Non-writing skills

The only way to get it done is by doing. That also goes for the things you don’t want to do, but have to.

The idea started with the notion that this book needs to sell, which means I need readers. I should work for someone, not just for my pleasure; I call it common sense.

So I took the vacation period to work on the Marketing Plan for the book. Of course, because I am entirely unable to do things halfway, I entered the rabbit hole of personal branding; I refuse to be just one thing.
I am multiple, I am complex, I cannot build something just for one book or one thing. So I started building it to sell my words, instead of just the book.
The personal branding plan led to the marketing plan, which led to the social media plan. A lovely, organized mess that took me hours and hours of life.

But it’s nearly done, on paper! Implementation is another thing – especially when I feel ancient every time social media slang gets tossed my way. So I will curse a lot in the next few months while learning this new skill. I will refuse to do some things because I am as stubborn as a mule, and I either do it my way or not at all. And then we will see.
