I am currently building characters. Seems like a necessary requirement for writing any good book. Although, to be honest I did not study for this, so have no clue how it is done*. But common sense (my dearest old friend) tells me that you need deep, dense characters that you can relate with.
The thing with characters is that I get obsessed with then. I have snips of then in my mind, little stories, personality traits and flaws, situations that they got themselves in, past pains, happy moments, burdens…the reasons why they do what they do (or what I am creating for then to do). So, I think it’s a good idea to start writing those.
If I think about my most loved book characters, I would really like to know more about then. And I rarely do! Apart from the current story they are in, which is just a snip of their lives.
However, I don’t want to spoil any fun, if eventually, one day, you will meet then, let’s say, in a book. So I will write here my short stories, under the category “characters” and if the day comes when their story will be told. I will link the short stories to the characters, for my (imagined) fans.
If you are dreaming, you should dream big, am I right? So in my mind I will finish this book, I will share this book with an editor that will make it better, it will be published and it will reach thousands of readers that will love it. And those readers will like to come here and read months and months of short stories about their favorite characters.
I have 5 different characters now, with their own personalities and background stories, that I am still building. But, I only have 8 lined chapters and ideas, so there’s much work to be done!
Also have short stories for characters that don’t go in this book. I guess those will not be linked, or they will be characters in future books. Why not?
